Why I’ve Chosen This Journey

Why I’ve Chosen This Journey

I haven’t had a job working for someone else since I was 19.

However, I’ve had moments where I was sitting at a laptop, trawling through job advertisements for big brand companies.

Fast forward to today.

I’m 31 and I’ve never made the jump.

I’ve felt tired.

Tired of not paying myself a proper salary.

Tired of working months (and years) on a project with a high probability of failure.

Tired of not seeing my wife, family or friends because I’ve got a to-do list that is overwhelming me.

It takes a toll. It feels like you are stranded amongst the breakers at the beach, being buffeted time, and time again.

And yet running a business is also completely energising and exhilarating.

Designing solutions that solve real needs for people.
Leading customers and team to grow and improve.
Seeing people’s lives transformed.

It’s easy to lose sight of this along the journey and the inevitable challenges.

At times I’ve forgotten my why. I’ve forgotten to celebrate.

But when I reconnect with why I am doing what I do, and when I remember to celebrate (or more often, my team reminds me to celebrate), I realise something:

I wouldn’t have it any other way.
